THE FARM STAND NC

My name is Jason Horne and I am the owner of The Farm Stand. I am excited to have this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself and the dream that has become my business.

About The Farm Stand

We provide fresh produce and plants. It's always a variable process.  Many different conditions and time management can have an impact on the outcome. But there's always something that can be done, so if you're bored, just go check your plants.

The creation of The Farm Stand began on what they call The Nature Coast of Florida. A small, beautiful place located on the west coast of central Florida, and situated on the Gulf of Mexico. A true paradise.

The inspiration for this venture comes from my childhood, growing and harvesting produce at an early age. Most looked at gardening as a lot of work for small returns. But this was something I loved and looked forward to doing. Canning goods for winter was a part of the work that went into your labor over the summer. There's nothing like the reward of something you've grown yourself. It made all the work well worth it.

I really wasn't sure what I would call this new business, and I accidentally came up with the name. As I began to explore what it takes to run a produce stand, and educate myself on what makes these stands work, I always referred to my stand as a Farm Stand. As plans began to draw up, organize, and get put into motion, the generic reference was always to the Farm Stand that I needed a name for. As time went on, the name stuck and well, The Farm Stand was in its infancy.

I built the stand myself board-by-board on a sturdy trailer. By the time it was complete, I wasn't able to really get it up and running before my family and I decided to move to North Carolina. We moved here to Willow Spring in late 2019, dragging The Farm Stand trailer with me.

About Me

I've been a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) since 2014. I was a first responder in Florida working for a 911 ambulance agency. I have 3 documented saves, meaning life saving interventions that changed the outcome for those involved.

I've been in competitive bowling since I was 8 years old. I was on a travel team competing against other cities in my youth. I was on the high school bowling team, making Varsity my sophomore year. We competed in the Championship match my junior year, leaving with a loss. The following year, we again made it to the Championship Match against the very same school from the year before. But this time, we brought the trophy back to our school to finish off my senior year. I began to bowl in men's tournaments, county tournaments, and state tournaments. I have 3 official 300 games. For those that don't know that's a perfect game which consists of 12 strikes in a row. In 2005, I qualified to compete in The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) in Jacksonville, FL. Upon placing in this tournament, I would had become a professional bowler. Unfortunately, bowling didn't go my way, and I was defeated. But it was an awesome experience to bowl with the guys you see on TV. The pressure was extremely intense.

My favorite meal would be one with Mediterranean cuisine and some fresh squeezed lemonade. I enjoy all things outdoors, like fishing, hunting, and boating. When it's time to take a break from real life, you can find me somewhere in the mountains doing some river fishing. I'm at peace in that environment.

Looking Forward

I have been fortunate to meet some wonderful people in Willow Spring. There are truly some awesome people here, and I'm happy to be a part of this community. The Community Marketplace has given me an opportunity to expand my business and grow my dreams. TCM was the missing puzzle piece, and I'm blessed to have found it. It has given me an opportunity that you simple can't put a price tag on. I hope that you'll come out to see me, and tell your friends and family about me too!
